Firstly I will need you to keep my name anonymous for obvious reasons. I am currently with the divers team won't reveal exact role to avoid trouble but it is with a very heavy and sad heart that I can confirm that we will not be able to recover anything today or in the near future. My heart goes out to the family who await and I cannot even imagine their pain. There are some facts however hard or harsh they may seem that people need to understand.
Firstly we DONT have the necessary equipment or technology to go that deep. Secondly it is very dark and the water is murky as very strong underwater currents constantly churn up sand and mud making it next to impossible to see anything even if we had powerful lighting.
Then the divers have to go down a few meters at a time to avoid a host of medical issues like the following : Barotrauma. Barotrauma is caused by the damage done by increased underwater pressure on the air pocket in the middle ear,Decompression Sickness,Nitrogen Narcosis,Oxygen Toxicity and Pulmonary Embolism.
Now comes the sad reality. Even after we manage to locate and identify the correct vehicle there may be nothing left to recover if the windows were open when it went down as these waters are shark infested and have other abundant smaller sea predators. If all the windows were up tight there may be that chance that we shall be able to recover some form of remains. The Chinese ROV that was assisting also cannot go any deeper.
The ferry administration should come out honestly with these facts and inform the family and public in my opinion.
