If there is a man that has trended widely this week, then it is Mike Oliver, a mzungu that has been going out with several women and sharing all their photos on his social media page with a lot of impunity. It turns out that the guy has been doing that for many years and for some reason, women love him. But most Kenyans have been very hard on him these past few days. This came to his attention and he had to respond.
But his response can be described as being savagely hilarious or extremely insensitive, whichever way you look at it. In one of the posts attacking him on Facebook, Mike Oliver left a thread of comments but two of them were very interesting. In one of them, he laughed and simply said, “I’m back.”
Being back means that he is back being trolled on the internet for his habit of dating different women and exposing their photos on his social media handles. He trended some years back and several of his women were exposed at the time.
What has angered Kenyans is when he went ahead to say that having many different women is his way of ‘keeping the economy going’.
“Yes, I was keeping the economy going. Now you eat cabbage for the rest of your entire life. It is healthy but the gases!” remarked Oliver in one of his comments.
This can be interpreted in two ways. Either he meant that he gives all his women some good money while dating them and so he should not be blamed. To him, his interactions with women are like business transactions. Another way of looking at his comment is that he is mocking men that stick to dating one woman. As for him, he prefers variety and not just ‘cabbage for the rest of his life’.
