"Why Do people kill" Here are KBC journalist Betty Barasa Last Words to a friend before she was brutally Murdered

A Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) journalist was on Wednesday evening accosted by armed gunmen and shot dead at her home in Ololua area, Ngong.

Betty Barasa, a senior video editor at the State broadcaster, was reportedly accosted at her gate as she returned home from work.

The three gunmen, two of whom are said to have been armed with AK47 rifles, led Barasa into the house where they held her family hostage and demanded money.

One of the gang members is then said to have led the journalist upstairs while the other two remained to keep an eye on the other family members.

The family recalls hearing at least two gunshots coming from upstairs afterward, before the gunman came back down the stairs.

The thugs then picked Barasa’s laptop and phone and left the compound.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have since been dispatched to the scene to probe the crime

Here is what a friend shared

Yesterday morning just before 9, | was having my
shoes cleaned near Kenya Comfort hotel. She saw
me, said hello and waited. We walked to BH together
discussing the incident where a police constable had
killed his wife before turning the gun on himself.
Betty Barasa was at a loss asking me, "HM why do
people kill” the debate veered to mental health issues
in marriages before we settled in our respective
offices. Later in the day She popped into our office
said hello to everyone and disappeared just as she
had come. At around 9:30 last night | received a call
from a senior Newspaper journalist... "Do you know
Betty? What does she do? She has been shot dead at
her home in Ngong by Thugs!..... | was devastated
especially after remembering our conversation in the
morning. A Gracious lady, selfless and kind. My heart
goes to the family, may God comfort you. Rest well
Betty, Rest. It's well.
