Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who are investigating the sudden death of prominent lawyer, Karanja Kabage, have revealed that they have recovered a sample of evidence that will eventually aid police in establishing the cause of his death.
Kabage, 70 died on Saturday after being involved in a small accident along Southern Bypass.
According to the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, Mr Kabage was driving a black Land Cruiser VX along the Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni towards Kikuyu
when the vehicle veered off the road.
Forensic experts from DCI disclosed that there was vomit inside Mr Kabage’s car before he later died in hospital.
“Yes he vomited in his car before the accident happened and this will help us establish the cause of his death,” said one of the detective who requested anonymity.
Also a source at Nairobi Hospital where the postmortem was carried indicated that the lawyer may have been poisoned.
Initial reports indicated that the lawyer had spent his Friday at the first annual Mount Kenya High Level Uongozi Forum at Safari Park, where he was a panelist.
On Thursday, he attended the memorial service of the late Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Bob Collymore.
The deceased served as a director at African Reinsurance Corporation and First Reinsurance Brokers Limited.
