Saddest story I have read today: Woman turns down cancer treatment to save unborn baby

UKO.co.ke is sad to report the sudden demise of Anne Ameyo, a brave Nairobi woman who turned down cancer treatment to save her unborn baby.

Anne died on the night of Sunday, September 22, at the Glen Eagles Global Hospital in India where she was receiving treatment.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke's producer Lynn Ngugi in an interview, Anne's mum Jane Jane Muchuka Ameyo said her death has dealt the family a big blow but they are trying to cope.

She revealed her daughter's last words were ''Lord do not leave me,'' which she uttered before taking her last breath.

Ameyo was also full of thanks to Kenyans for raising KSh 2.3 million, money which was used to fly her to India for specialised treatment.

According to her, Anne was all happy and even ready to fly back home when the angel of death visited.

Ameyo requested Kenyans to help her raise KSh 180,000, money needed to fly her body back home.

TUKO.co.ke learnt Anne arrived in India on August 15 and was under treatment until her sudden demise.

She has left behind two children who Ameyo said needed help and prayed for strength to take care of them now that their mother is no more.

TUKO.co.ke first highlighted Anne's story in early July 2019 through which she showed much hope and strength to recover.

Anne moved many hearts because she had turned down cancer treatment to save her unborn baby.

“I have gone through a lot since 2017. I was diagnosed with cancer. I was told I had sickle tumour. I was told it was either my daughter die and I lived or the vice versa,” she revealed in an interview with TUKO.co.ke.
''I told them I cannot get rid of my baby because there is a reason why God gave her to me,” she added.
Following news of her death, countless Kenyans took to social media to condole with her family.
