10 similarities between Rachael Ruto and Margaret Kenyatta



  • The two most powerful women in the country are arguably the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto's wife Rachel.
    Margaret and Rachel have striking similarities that a few Kenyans have noticed.
    Top of the list is that both are trained teachers, despite the fact that their career path took a very different turn.

    Both also attended Kenyatta University. The two trained teachers attended the same university for their tertiary -education though at different times of their lives.

    Rachel and Margaret's most distinct similarity is their short hair. Kenyans have always been impressed and showered the duo with praises over the simplicity of their style.
    Over and above the listed similarities they are also notably the most active wives of the president and the deputy president the country has ever had since independence.
    Margaret organises the annual Beyond Zero Marathon which helps raise funds that are channelled to the advancement of maternal health care.

    For the second lady, she has her Joyful Women Organisation (JOYWO) whose main aim is to develop and strengthen the skills and abilities of women.
    Established in 2009, and it has grown tremendously. Currently, it has over 200,000 members in more than 12, 000 groups who are revolving over Ksh2.7 billion.
