Unemployment is proving to be a serious issue in the country with a section of Kenyans saying that it is at crisis levels especially among the youth.
On Friday Ngina Kenyatta delivered a powerful speech in front of her father President Uhuru Kenyatta at the African Philanthropy Forum as the Director of the Kenyatta Trust, sharing her perspective on how the youths can beat unemployment.
Pointing at the greatness of the African continent, she advised the young people that the way to deal with the unemployment issue is for them to venture into new and innovative fields.
"We come from a continent of immense greatness and it is now time as the youth to address and find solutions to the issue of unemployment by going into new and innovative fields," she said.
Ngina encouraged youth to gain skills that directly address their communities' development and economic needs.
Her perspective on how to address the problem of unemployment came amid blistering criticism of her father Uhuru for reportedly wondering why Kenyans are broke.
On his part, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that leaders have the responsibility of equipping youths with the necessary tools for them to thrive.
“Together, we can build a new wave of positively engaged and well-equipped young African professionals who can help the region realise the potential for collective innovation and social impact,” the Head of State said.
Uhuru is in his second and final term as he strives to address unemployment as part of his presidential legacy.
