Her daughter who climbed the life's ladder to become the national project development and policy officer at the International Organisation for Migration was the first to fall sick. She complained of ill health on February 22 and arrangements were made to rush her to the same facility but she unfortunately gave up the fight on March 13. Wawira's father, Alex Njuki,was lucky to survive the infection after doctors attending to him at a hospital in Nairobi's South C assured the family he had healed. "It is not known how the disease was spread to the family. It is sad and we are trying to come to terms with the loss of two family members," he said.
