Kenya’s King of the airwaves, Maina Kageni has often reiterated that he has zero plans of getting off the shelves.
Christened ‘Woman Rep’ by fans and critics, Maina said that he is averse to the commitment and tags that come with the marriage institution, as men are always trying to impress their partners, something he doesn’t subscribe to.
In a past Interview on Bonga na Jalas, Maina said marriage is not for everyone.
“Sometimes marriage is not for everyone but never say never and I believe that you know why? Sir Charles Njonjo got married at 54 or 59 na ako 100 sai …wewe oa tutakuzika 63.
Wewe ndo utajimaliza, coz what married people do is to try and keep u and impress. You try and do crazy, out of this world things that you think she will remember forever, that’s how you kill yourself”
First of all, your woman will always have more money than you, because she didn’t spend it, she saves it. So don’t think buying her a Mercedes Benz impressing her” said Maina in part.
Maina says he values his freedom and the thought of seeking permission before he can indulge in certain things petrifies him
“Mimi ni mtu wa freedom.. sai Tuseme Corona imeisha na naamka nasema I want to be in the US in two weeks. Na ninaenda, do you think you can do that when you are married? You have to ask your wife and that’s what I have got a problem doing” added Maina.
The Classic 105 Presenter added that he loves women and he will always be their defender and voice.
“Women deserve everything good because they were your begging. Whether it’s a mother, sister, girlfriend, or wife. All good things start there. If you mess them up hiyo ni yako si yake.
The African society is so pro-men, yet women are the ones who do everything right for society… if this country was run by a woman we will have a motherly President” posed Maina Kageni.
His sentiments came like a sledgehammer for the mostly materialistic Kenyan women given that Maina is an established bloke.
He owns residential houses in Nairobi and a couple of condos in the United States specifically Miami, Florida. In addition, he co-owns a modeling agency in Lagos with one of the P Square brothers. Furthermore, he is said to earn a seven-figure salary.
He drives a 2020 BMW
But has he finally changed his mind?
Last month, he hinted at a possible ceremony. On his trip to the US, Kageni shared a video with his roommate Wanjiru Kinuthia, which stirred online rumors.
“Mushone vitenge, mkue ready muanze kupractise soprano na alto, habari ndio hiyo.”
Maina described her as the loveliest person ever. “She is the most fun person.”
“Shiro wa Kinuthia or Shiro wa Maina is the loveliest person ever, the most fun person ever and she’s a doctor going for 2nd doctorate and her Ph.D.
“The question everyone is asking is when she is coming home. Shiro is coming home next month. Mushone vitenge muwe tayari na muanze kupractise soprano na alto,” he said.
Well, the damsel jetted into the country from the US on Friday, September 3.
The veteran journalist was visibly elated as he shared a picture of him with Ciru on his Instagram page and captioned: “Welcome home, Ciru! What a start to the weekend!”
In the picture, Maina was holding a bottle of champagne while Ciru was sitting cosily beside him with her right hand resting calmly on Maina’s shoulders.
It is no doubt that the two were poised for a fantastic weekend.
