Ed Woodward "makes up" mind on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after catching him off-guard in office

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly has the full backing of Ed Woodward who remains convinced he's the right man to return Manchester United to the promised land.

Solskjaer is under growing pressure with recent results going against the Red Devils, who have slipped outside of the top four spots.

A number of candidates have been linked with his job, including Antonio ConteZinedine Zidane and even Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers.

But according to reports, Woodward still believes Solskjaer is the right man to take the Red Devils forward and he still has the full backing of the Manchester United board.

The Independent reports that Woodward's opinion has an influence on the ultimate decision-maker at United, Joel Glazer, despite the fact he is leaving his post as executive vice-chairman at the end of 2021.

Man United's main objective remains qualifying for the Champions League and until this is out of the question the board will not look to remove Solskjaer from his position.

One recent moment involving Solskjaer behind the scenes at United impressed Woodward.

The executive vice-chairman is said to have been walking past Solskjaer's office when he found him privately planning out his team for future seasons to come.

It seems Woodward likes the fact Solskjaer sees himself in the job for the long-term and is looking at creating a dynasty - like the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson - rather than be a flash in the pan success.

United were beaten 4-2 by Leicester City last time out and Solskjaer called for unity from his players after the match.

"We started well," Solskjaer said. "Mason [Greenwood] scored a fantastic goal. You look at the spaces we create and with a bit more care we'd have got the second one.
