On Saturday, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga received a major boost after President Uhuru Kenyatta led over 10 parties in endorsing his presidential bid in August.
In a colourful ceremony held at Kasarani Gymnasium, Uhuru and over 12 party leaders said they will support Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja Movement as the country heads to a high-stakes election in August.
Following Uhuru’s move to join Azimio, a local blog conducted an online opinion poll asking Kenyans if the election were held today who do they think will win between Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
Over 15000 Kenyans participated and 65.7 percent supported DP Ruto while Raila came a distant second with 34.3 percent.
This is a big win for DP Ruto since the poll shows that President Uhuru Kenyatta joining Azimio La Umoja Movement didn’t change his numbers, especially in Mt Kenya and Rift Valley regions.
