AMBER ALERT UPDATE: CADEN SPEIGHT.
** see previous post for addtional info **
A UPS driver told authorities that he delivered a package to 11795 SW Highway 484 around 1:00 PM, the same day Caden was abducted. He reported seeing four Hispanic men working on a roofing job at the property with a white van parked nearby. The UPS stated the men were on a lunch break and responded aggressively in Spanish when he greeted them, giving him hostile looks. He added that he initially dismissed the encounter until learning of the investigation.
Four armed men opened fire on Caden’s work truck in broad daylight, wounding him before taking him against his will in what authorities now classify as an active kidnapping case. The attack left Speight injured from gunshot wounds, but deputies believe he survived the initial assault and may now be held captive by his attackers.
The Dunnellon Police Department confirmed that a suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Luis M. Palomar, a man with a prior criminal history, including a 2016 arrest in connection with a home invasion and three other unrelated felony charges.
Marion County Sheriff's investigators have determined the suspects fled the scene in a light-colored van, likely with Speight inside. The teenager was wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt when he disappeared. Deputies warn residents not to approach Caden if spotted, instead directing them to immediately contact law enforcement at (352) 732-9111.
