Alice Riang’a: Family of Slain JOOUST Student Shares Chilling Details, Says Her Hair Was Shaved
The family of Alice Riang’a, a second-year student at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), is grief-stricken following her tragic death.
Alice was found dead in a forest in Barkowino, Bondo, in Siaya county, days after she was reported missing.
The tragic death of the promising student, who was pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Science) degree, has sparked calls for justice and renewed concern over the rising cases of femicide.
Alice’s cousin, Omweri, in a video shared on his Facebook page 'The Omweri Perspective', narrated chilling details about how her body was found.
He first explained his relationship with the deceased, noting that he only received the information from his mother.
“That is my cousin. I got a call today from my mum, who is her mother’s blood sister. She told me to go to Kasarani to my aunt’s place to confirm what was happening. She is my younger cousin and is very close to my sister,” he said.
Omweri revealed that Alice’s hair had been shaved, and this was visible in images shared with the family.
He claimed it appeared as though a ritual may have been conducted, suggesting she may have been sacrificed.
“That could have been a ritual depending on how her body was left. I do not know what kind of life she was living, as we never spoke much about such things. But make it make sense,” he added.
The young man further clarified that he was not accusing anyone and would leave the matter to the police. However, he questioned the identity of a man seen sharing videos of himself with the late Alice.
He said he did not know him and would like him to explain the nature of their relationship.
Omweri also narrated that Alice’s father, Richard Riang’a, fainted at the hospital upon viewing and identifying his daughter’s lifeless body.:
