Thursday August 29, 2019-President Uhuru Kenyatta with consultation with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, is preparing to name the next Treasury Cabinet Secretary following the sacking of Henry Rotich.
Rotich, who is a Harvard trained economist, was sacked last month after he was involved in the loss of Sh 20 billion during the construction of Arror and Kimwarer Dams in Elgeyo Marakwet.
When Rotich was charged in Court over the scandal, Uhuru appointed Labour Cabinet Secretary, Ukur Yattani as acting CS to give him time to look for appropriate candidate to be the Treasury CS.
Now according to impeccable sources, Uhuru wants to appoint former Auditor General, Edward Ouko as the new Treasury CS.
Uhuru and Raila think Ouko is the ultimate choice since he knows the tricks which governors use to siphon public money.
Dr Ouko, who is a no nonsense state officer ,is member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA) and holds a B.Com Degree (Hons) in Finance and Accounting from the University of Nairobi.
Prior to his appointment as Auditor General, Ouko served as a senior manager at African Development Bank.
