Joyce Syombua and children murder case takes new twist as police say he did not kill alone

Major Peter Mugure, the key suspect in the murder of Joyce Syombua and her two children, and his co-accused Collins Pamba have been detained for 21 days pending conclusion of investigations.
Central region’s Senior Deputy Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Peter Mailanyi, on Monday told a Nanyuki court to give police more time saying there are several complexities in trying to unravel the murder of the three family members.
Mr. Mailanyi also argued that Joyce Syombua’s phone needs to be subjected to more analysis and Major Mugure’s residence further investigated.
“We believe there are other suspects still at large who are involved and police need to trace and arrest them,” he stated.
According to Mr. Mailanyi, other suspects involved in the murder could be Major Mugure’s juniors in the military hence, if released he is likely to interfere with investigations.
DNA samples in the bodies have been taken and results from the DNA bodies are set to be released this week.
Confession from 21 year old Collins pamba will lead to more arrests this week.
Police believe that major Peter Mugure did not act alone.
