Governor 001, as Joho is popularly known, was so smitten with Betty, he had no qualms about buying her a house along Lenana Road in Nairobi’s Kilimani area.
He also gifted her with a BMW X6 and a Porsche Cayenne, besides a monthly upkeep stipend that would make any girl’s eye water.
“The house though was not in Betty’s name,” said a source close to the two former lovebirds. So, when their love life went south, Joho repossessed the house together with the cars.
A source close to the two told The Nairobian that Governor Joho was so generous “he even opened a business that deal’s in leather products for Betty’s sister, but Betty wanted more.”
Our source further added that Joho could not keep up with the ever-smiling anchor’s demands. Betty Kyallo wanted to be the First Lady of Mombasa County!
“Betty even toned down her dressing on television to look wifely, but the pressure was too much for Joho who stopped talking to her. Later, he sent his security to repossess the two vehicles and the keys to his house in Kilimani,” the source divulged.
Betty had separated with her then-husband, television anchor Dennis Okari, barely six months into their publicised wedding, whose planning was played out on social media, followed by a honeymoon that was similarly advertised.
With Joho having taken back his house keys, Betty was left ‘homeless.’ To make matters worse, she had left Okari without carrying even a rusty spoon from their matrimonial home.
The source told The Nairobian that Betty had left like one going for shopping, only to hook up with Governor Joho.
“Joho took his house and the BMW. The Porsche Cayenne was repossessed from Betty when she was behind the wheels on Mombasa Road,” continued our source.
“She was forced to park off the road near Nyayo Stadium and pick her stuff before Joho’s security detail seized it.” Betty begged Joho to allow her to take the furniture and other personal effects, which he did, explained our source “and even gave her send-off money to start her new life.
It did not take long before Betty filed a case at the Milimani Children’s Court seeking child support from her ex-husband Dennis Okari.”
In an August 2017 interview with True Love magazine, Betty opened up about her relationship with Joho and recalled that the governor “was going through the same thing, a separation, and we connected on that level. We tried to have something and it gave me comfort because we understood where we were with each other. He was easy to talk to, hang out and have fun with. But after a few months, I decided that this was not what I wanted for myself.”
Betty explained that “we had a culture and religious clash. I also wanted to be a strong woman. I wanted to make something for myself and my daughter. I wanted to start a business because I am young and energetic. But he wanted someone who was chilled. There was a conversation of me quitting my career and just staying at home. We did not see eye to eye on this. It was devastating.”
Betty left with her daughter and concluded that “it was a painful discovery, and I knew it was going to hurt once again, but I had to walk. I left with what was mine and gave him what was his and we parted ways peacefully in December 2016.”
Betty then hooked up with banker Tito Kuyoh who gave her his black Range Rover which she used to parade on social media. But they broke up over allegations of several admirers and “the guy was really heartbroken.”
Contacted by The Nairobian, Tito denied the allegations stating that, “I have never dated Betty. She is like a sister to me and there is nothing beyond that.” Betty did not answer our calls and neither did Joho’s communication team.
