Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have major a major break in the investigations in the death of Olympian Agnes Tirop.
According to K24, the detectives have retrieved a CCTV footage from the late athlete’s house in Iten, Elegeyo Marakwet and will be used to trail the last footsteps of the young athlete before meeting her death.
The footage but they believe will be crucial in the prosecution of Inrahim Rotich, the husband of the slain athlete who was arrested in Mombasa as he planned to leave the country.
“The prime suspect in the gruesome murder of 25-year-old world 5,000m record holder Agnes Tirop, has been arrested. Ibrahim Rotich, who was in a relationship with the athlete was arrested moments ago in Changamwe, Mombasa county, as he tried to flee to a neighboring country to evade justice.
Rotich is believed to have killed the two-time World Athletics championships bronze medallist,by stabbing her before going into hiding. Tirop’s lifeless body was found lying on her bed Wednesday morning in Iten, with visible stab wounds on her abdomen.” Said DCI
Olympic athlete Agnes Tirop was murdered by her lover Ibrahima Emmanuel Rotich early this week and up to now people are trying to find out more evidence to pursue him in court. Family members are working so had to ensure they retrieve Tirop's wealth which had been taken away by her lover. The exact date for the burial has not yet been announced and the family is waiting for an autopsy to be done so that they can proceed with other activities. Apparently, a lady has been arrested in association with Tirop's murder. According to CCTV footage, the murder was a deal of several people who actually wanted to inherit Tirop's wealth. According to the videos that were captured, a lady was seen walking into Tirop's house hours before she was murdered. She was in a hurry and you could see her rushing out of the house. Tirop's lover entered the house immediately and it seems like they had already plotted a way of killing her. The lady has been detained and she will help in finding enough evidence that will be used in that case.( Source, Nation).
