Lilian Nganga joins politics to vie for Nairobi top seat

Wind. When it is benign, it soothes as it gushes over one’s face, penetrating the pores on the face and body, cooling and refreshing. In fact, we then begin to confer on it a more affable title like ‘breeze.’

When it is malign, like a typhoon, it is ferocious and leaves a trail of destruction in its wake.

Then there’s the wind of change, the one that has turned Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua into a pseudo-Dr. Myles Monroe, dishing Inspirational humdrum on Instagram, that is if he is not hopping from TV to Radio propagating political rhetorics and half-truths.

The same wind has blown the cupid’s arrow his ex-wife’s way. Man, isn’t she smitten? Oh, what wind is this? Pardon me, let me jumpstart your memory. Remember this statement?

“Winds of change blew my way two months ago, I decided to end my long term relationship with Dr. Alfred Mutua. We had a good run and I am forever grateful to God he brought us together. We remain friends.

With this, I put down the Machakos First Lady cap – and what an honor it has been to be of service! I will continue to do projects close to my heart, charity work, etc through the Lilian Nganga Foundation as this has always formed who I am as a person.”

Ng’anga and Mutua announced in August that they had decided to split amicably after a ten-year relationship.

Yeah, that wind. The wind that swept Lilian Nganga right into the lanky arms of our local Kendrick Lamar, aka Julius Otieno. Y’all know him as Juliani.

The fuss their tryst has generated would make British tabloids Indigo with envy, even the Meghan Markel and ginger bunny Prince Harry’s union did not raise as much furore.

And every time any of them or their close associates post a photo of the couple, the social media erupts in a cocktail of excitement, awe, chauvinism, Feminism, and even ire.

When lurid activist Boniface Mwangi shared photos of the lovers celebrating love and moving on, many conveyed their sentiments and among the herd was beleaguered former Nairobi CEO Mike Sonko

“Life is short, don’t let religion or societal expectations make you stay in an unhappy relationship. Go where you are loved. If you have loved once, you can love and be loved again, Mwangi wrote in part.

He added: “I’m here to offend those men who behave like their partners are personal assets. Assets are dead things, they have no feelings or emotions. Partners have flesh and blood, they can move on and you can do nothing about it. Money doesn’t make a man, manners do.”

Sonko shared the photos and quipped,

“Aki si poa, stop hurting Kavaluku just move on in peace, you are now endangering the life of msanii,” Sonko wrote to his 930,000 Instagram followers and over 2 million Facebook followers, telling Lillian to stop hurting her ex-partner.

Ng’ang’a was so riled, she took to her page has addressing Sonko

“My main concern from Governor Mike Sonko’s post is WHY he would think I am endangering Juliani’s life. The photos as shared yesterday by our friend Bonnie were not IN ANY WAY meant to hurt anybody,” Lillian clarified.

She went on to suggest that the comments on her decision to go public with her relationship were sexist.

“Would sentiments be the same if it was the man who was now dating someone else? I am 100% sure it would not. Society MUST be fair to women.

“Also, if you read this post and do not see the MAIN ISSUE that requires discourse, you are failing your sisters, your daughters, your women friends e.t.c,” Lillian stated.

Juliani also deleted a statement he made after Mwangi shared the photos

Taking to his Twitter account on Monday, October 18, Juliani told Mwangi that he would have appreciated it if the activist consulted him and Nganga before sharing the photos online.

“Boniface Mwangi, you know I love you. I know you mean well but it would have been proper to inform us before posting the photos,” Juliani said in the statement he has since deleted.

May the wind keep blowing!
