Kenyan politicians are always associated with the luxurious lifestyle that reflects on the type of vehicles they drive, the houses they own and the security detail at their disposal but this is not the case for one governor in Kenya.
Kericho county boss Paul Chepkwony leads a simple life that is less extravagant and not showing off as he currently resides in an old house, has only one gardener, one cook and one security officer while he also drives in one vehicle without an escort or a chase car.
The Governor states that he does not need a convoy of vehicles when moving and needs only one car at a time as he argues that politicians who drive around in a fleet of vehicles have questionable motives which makes them hide from the public.
Chepkwony reveals that his house was built in 1937 and is situated in his farmland and claims that no matter how big a residence is, he only needs one bedroom and one bed which feels adequate for him.
The governor studied at the Jomo Kenyatta University where he pursued a Bachelor Of Science in Chemistry and was among the top performers in the class of 1992. Before he won the Kericho gubernatorial seat, Chepkwony worked at Moi University as a pharmaceutical chemistry professor.
The humble governor also possesses a Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Nairobi and his exceptional development record has been lauded by the residents of his county.
Chepkwony is currently serving his second term in office as a Jubilee governor with his county enjoying developed road networks, the building of classrooms for the Early Childhood Development and the employment of teachers.
